Regulatory

In keeping with BIOCON’S commitment to quality in research, the company has a fully-functional Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) as required by the various Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations of the Federal Government, including the Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency. Therefore, BIOCON has a system of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), specifications, and record keeping requirements to ensure that all procedures are performed correctly and that they are accurately documented.

BIOCON has established their facilities with animal care programs designed to meet or exceed the guidelines for animal care and facility management as described by the Animal Welfare Act; the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals; and the Principles for the Use of Experimental Animals.

BIOCON also has:

  • An approved Animal Welfare Assurance Statement on file with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) - #A3267 01
  • Is accredited by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) since 1981 - #000529
  • Is registered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) - #51 R 0032

BIOCON has the ability to perform animal studies under strict GLP Guidelines. Furthermore, the facility is able to operate select rooms under BSL-2 conditions.
